A patera boat carrying 26 illegal immigrants was intercepted off the coast of Tarifa on Sunday morning, some five miles off Punta Camarinal. It’s understood their boat was spotted by the crew of a merchant ship sailing in the Strait of Gibraltar.
There were 15 women amongst the passengers including, according to El Mundo newspaper, one pregnant woman. Red Cross personnel were on assessing the passengers’ health at the port in Tarifa.
