Barcelona back three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table

Press speculation of a fall in form at Barcelona proved unfounded over the weekend as the Catalan side thrashed Zaragoza 6-1, while Real Madrid could do no more than a no-score draw at Sporting.

The Real Madrid game was on Saturday and Pellegrini was forced to make changes with three top players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, out injured, but the side failed to gel against a powerful Sporting. It will be interesting to see how they get on against Alcorcón in the first round of the King’s Cup on Tuesday.

Barcelona celebrated their 6-1 win against Zaragoza with a hat trick from Keita, two from Ibrahimovic and one from Messi. The result will be a relief for Pep Gaurdiola after the team’s poor performance against Rubin Kazan last week.
Barça once again have a three point lead at the top of the table.

Valencia will be happy with their 0-3 win in Almería. Pablo Hernández was the man of the match, and has joined the famous three in Valencia, Villa, Mata and Silva.

Atletico de Madrid proved unable to win at home to Mallorca on Saturday, despite the visitors conceding two penalties and ending the game with nine players. Mallorca still equalised in the 90th minute for the match to end 1-1.
