The two groups were escorted into Alicante and Xavià ports on Friday night

Two more patera boats carrying 14 immigrants were detected, one by the new SIVE radar system when 32 miles off the Cabo de San Antonio, and the other by a passing merchant vessel, when 23 miles off Santa Pola on Friday night.

Eight of the travelers were brought into Alicante port at 9pm on Friday, while the other six came ashore later in Xàbia.

All the immigrants are thought to be Algerian and four of them claimed to Red Cross workers to be under 18. Medical tests will now be carried out on them, while the rest are reported to be in good health.
