His teenage passenger died when the car crashed down a ravine

A 19 year old driver injured in a fatal traffic accident in Almuñécar on Saturday night was arrested by the Civil Guard the following morning after he was shown to have been drunk at the wheel. An 18 year old died when the car crashed down a ravine while taking a curve on a rural road in the Torrecuevas area of Almuñécar.

The victim was a local youngster named as J.B.G. He and another seriously injured passenger had to be cut out of the wrecked vehicle after it fell some 60 metres down the ravine at around 11 o’clock on Saturday night. The driver received minor injuries in the crash and was able to escape the car without assistance, as did the remaining occupant, although seriously hurt.

The driver, A.S.M., is to appear before a judge charged with reckless driving resulting in death.
