Improved data connections can be achieved according to the researchers

Researchers from Málaga university have devised what they describe as a Communication Awareness Program for mobile phones. The idea is to ensure that an mobile phone internet connection remains in place even if the signal drops for a time, and to ensure that the online functions of the phone do not interfere with the phone’s normal services.

For the more technical minded, the researchers have developed a protocol analyser which allows the incoming TCP/IP traffic to be captured while avoiding information overload.

Director of the research project, Pedro Merino, told 20minutos.es that their work is centred on ideas which improve the reliability of software in many situations, such as on planes or in control towers, where any errors could lead to loss of life. The program is available for free on the internet.
