Athletic and Valencia could only draw in the Champions League on Thursday night
Villarreal had an explosive start to their game against Lazio on Thursday night, and picked up three points from the 4-1 result. The Spanish side where 3-0 up in a quarter of an hour.
Pires had a great game, and the side was helped by a firm Oliva in goal towards the end of the game. The result keeps their options open and puts them second in their group. After their 5-0 win last Sunday against Tenerife, Villarreal appear to have found their form.
Athletic de Bilbao also moved towards the last 16 in the competition after a 1-1 result against Nacional de Madeira. Both sides had more chances in the game which places the Basque side second in their group.
Valencia saw a 2-0 lead at half time in Prague evaporate in just two minutes to leave a 2-2 result despite an inferior Slavia. The earlier fabulous goal from Maduro now eclipsed by the result.
