The Civil Guard operation discovered 15 kilos of cannabis in a local patrol car
Five people, including four local police officers, were arrested by the Civil Guard in Mijas on Saturday after 15 kilos of cannabis were discovered in one of the patrol cars used by the local police force. The officers were on duty at the time of their arrest and were seen being taken away in handcuffs from Avenida de Andalucía at lunchtime on Saturday.
The Civil Guard move came in an operation which remains open which has seen searches of the officers’ homes and their lockers at the local police station. EFE reports that more arrests could be made in the case.
It follows a similar anti-drugs operation at the beginning of last month, which saw a number of Civil Guard officers arrested along with other suspects after a haul of two tons of cannabis was intercepted in Torrox Costa.
