The Madrid band had a string of massive hits in the 80's
Top 80’s Spanish band, Mecano, have reformed to record a new song ‘Maria Luz’. The tune has been put together in studios in both Madrid and London, with the voice of Ana Torroja accompanied by the London Ensemble orchestra, conducted by Gavin Wright.
The new tune will be added to a new compilation being released by the Madrid group. The CD comes in book form with biographies of the band members and over 100 photographs, plus CD’s with 32 of their hits, another 32 songs recorded live, 16 videos and other rarities.
‘Mecano Siglo XXI’ is bound to be a best-seller for Christmas in both Spain and Latin America, and goes on sale on November 17.
Since she embarked on a solo career, singer Ana Torroja has had several problems, not least with Hacienda where the Spanish taxman is claiming more than 600,000 €. She and the model Esther Arroyo were both seriously injured after a head-on collision on the N340 near Barbate in October last year.
