It brings the number of suspects in the drug dealing investigation up to six

Another officer has been arrested in the investigation in Mijas which last Saturday saw four members of the municipal police force taken into custody for suspected drug dealing. The fifth officer is reported by Diario Sur to have been arrested on Wednesday night.

The Civil Guard investigation discovered 15 kilos of cannabis in one of the patrol cars used by the local force on Saturday and, following the later arrest of another suspect, the only one who is not a member of the local police, a further 150 kilos of the drug, which were found in a search of his home. He’s understood to have been storing the cannabis there on behalf of the network.

El Mundo has meanwhile revealed that Mijas Town Hall has announced it will be placing a private accusation in the case and has suspended the four officers initially arrested without pay. They were all refused bail by the judge and are now in prison on remand.
