It's been revealed the planning documents requested in the search were the subject of a previous court order

More details have been revealed about the court-ordered search of the Town Hall building in Arboleas on Monday, which Ideal newspaper reports was ordered by Judge Alberto Blanco at Instruction Court No. 3 in Huércal-Overa. It’s understood to relate to an investigation into alleged planning crimes.

The office which was searched is that used by Fernando García Benito, who was the municipal secretary from the year 2000 until he was moved over by the new Mayor, Ángel Jesús García, of PSOE, to the administration department in June. García took over the position when his predecessor, Francisco Pérez, also a Socialist, died after a long illness in January.

Ideal notes that the documents requested by the police had been requested by a previous court order but had never been sent by the Town Hall. The Mayor told El Mundo newspaper that they relate to García Benito’s first years as the town’s municipal secretary.

No arrests were made and, according to Ideal, no suspects have been named.
