The club's manager is reported as the 3rd suspect in custody

The third suspect arrested in connection with the murder of the Mayor of Polop de la Marina, Alejandro Ponsoda, two years ago, has been identified by Diario Información as the manager of an alternative nightclub in Finestrat. He’s reported to be from Uruguay and the name of the club is given as the Mesalina.

Alejandro Ponsoda was fatally shot as he was parking his car outside his home in Xirles on 19th October 2007. Detectives in the case are said by Información to have found evidence during the course of their investigation that his murder was planned at an alternative club in the Marina Baixa, where the deal was agreed with the contract killers who fired the fatal shots. They are believed to be from the Czech Republic.

The paper indicates that the second suspect arrested, a local businessman in Polop, may have been a client of the club, but that none of the 3 suspects in custody are believed to be the masterminds behind the murder. Further arrests are expected in the case.
