The first flights will be within 3 months once the contract has been confirmed
A new air link between Almería and Sevilla is to be operated by Air Nostrum, a route which has been authorised as a public service and which will be funded by Andalucía’s regional government.
Ideal newspaper reports that the new route between Almería’s El Alquián aerodrome and the San Pablo Airport in Sevilla will be in operation within 3 months, once awarding of the contract has been definitively confirmed and signed with the airline. The number of weekly flights planned between the two cities has yet to be announced.
It’s understood the air link will remain in place until 2013, when a new AVE high speed rail link will connect Sevilla with Granada, bringing journey time between Almería and the Andalucía capital down to a little over 3 hours.
