It’s no lie to describe the FIB as Irish. The Benicàssim International Festival, one of the most famous summer pop and rock festivals in Spain each summer, and one of the most important in Europe, is now in the hands of the Irish music promoter, Vince Power.

He’s been associated with the festival for some years, but now the two brothers from León, José Luis and Miguel Morán, who established it in 1995, have decided to move on to pastures new.

Last year the festival attracted 200,000 fans, many of them British, to see a line up of top bands, again many of them British.

The list of acts for next year’s festival is currently being drawn up and shortly it will be clear if the change of ownership means any change in musical direction.
