Workers get an extra day off in Spain in 2010

The official 'Calendario Laboral' for 2010 has just been published
The number of fiestas or bank holidays in Spain for 2010 is one more than in 2009 according to the Official State Bulletin published on Friday.
The extra fiesta day is January 6, which will be celebrated across the country, but which can be substituted by any region which wishes to do so.
The whole country will this enjoy nine national holidays, two of which fall on a Saturday, May 1st and Christmas Day.
The eight fixed National Fiestas are
January 1 – New Year’s Day
April 2 – Good Friday
May 1 – Labour Day
October 12 – Fiesta Nacional
November 1 – All Saints Say
December 6 – Day of the Spanish Constitution
December 8 – Immaculate Conception
December 25 – Christmas Day
In addition to the ten national fiestas there are two regional fiestas dependent on each region, and two local fiestas also, leading to a maximum number of 14 days off work.
April 1, Maundy Thursday, will be a fiesta across the country with the exception of Cataluña and Valencia.
March 19th, San José, is a fiesta in Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Comunidad Valenciana, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, País Vasco, La Rioja and Melilla.
April 5, Easter Monday, is a fiesta only in Baleares, Cataluña, Comunidad Valenciana, Navarra and País Vasco.
June 3, Corpus Christi is a fiesta in Madrid.
August 16, the Monday following the Assencion of the Virgin, is a fiesta in Andalucía, Aragón and Asturias.
