Penélope Cruz on the red carpet before the Oscars - EFE
She was unsuccessful in the Best Supporting Actress category
No joy for the Spanish interest in the Oscars overnight. Penélope Cruz left empty handed in the Best Supporting Actress, nominated for her performance in the musical Nine, while ‘La Dama y la Muerte’, the short produced in Málaga and Granada was also unsuccessful.
Cruz was beaten by the favourite Mo’Nique from the film ‘Precious'.
The best Film in a Foreign Language went to the Argentinean production ‘El Secreto de Sus Ojos’.
