Cabin crew have been called out by the Unite Union on Saturday, Sunday and Monday

British Airways has cancelled 29 of the 30 flights which it should have offered between London Heathrow and Madrid over the three days of strike action which started on Saturday.

Nationally on Saturday 11 of the 26 flights the airline usually runs between the UK and Spain were cancelled, according to data from the Spanish Airports Authority AENA.

It came as last minute talks broke down on the conditions and pay for the 12,000 crew in the company. Management claims that savings are needed for the survival of the airline, which remains in talks on a merger with Iberia.

Iberia programmed an extra flight on Saturday between Barajas and Heathrow to meet the demand.
