Judge Ferrín Calamita - EFE
The Murcia judge faces a ten year ban from public office

The Constitutional Court has refused to admit an appeal to it by the Murcia Judge, Ferrín Calamita, who had been sentenced to a ten year ban from office by the Supeme Court on a charge of perversion of the course of justice, by refusing to allow a lesbian woman to official adopt her partner’s child. He was also ordered to pay 6,000 € compensation to the woman.

The Supreme Court decided in December to increase the ban from office from two to ten years considering the judge had maliciously delayed procedures and showed contempt to the woman’s sexual orientation.

The Constitutional Court says the appeal cannot be heard as Calamita has also made a further appeal to the Supreme Court calling for the case against him to be declared null and void.
