They say robberies in the area are increasingly violent

Residents of districts in the northern part of Cartagena have demanded action against a recent spate of robberies in their area. They have asked for an urgent meeting with the central government representative for the Region, Ángel González, and say more Civil Guard officers need to be assigned to Cartagena.

Pedro Obradors, president of the residents committee for La Palma, says the usual burglaries have increased over the past two weeks to armed robberies which are much more aggressive in nature.

They want more night patrols in the area, and cover in the El Algar and El Albujón Civil Guard barracks extended to out of office hours.
