The famous Gaudí dragon which guards the entrance to the Parque Güell Park in Barcelona has been seriously damaged by vandals.
Police have arrested a 22 year old from L’Hospitalet de Llobregat in Barcelona province, who they say attacked the sculpture with a one-metre long metal bar. He is named as David P.C., and was seen carrying out the act of vandalism by witnesses.
Police are trying to locate others who were with him at the time and who may also have been involved. Reports describe them and the detainee as punks.
The damage to the dragon is said to be serious, and mainly affected its head and torso.
