Murcia Town Hall announce inspection of local palm trees

The 5,000 trees will be searched for the red beetle which is devasting palms in many areas

Murcia town has announced that they will be inspecting the more than 5,000 palm trees in the municipality one by one, to see if they have been affected by the red beetle which has devastated the tree in other areas. At the same time the Ayuntamiento has called on the regional government to start an intense program to prevent the spread of the insect.
