La Cordá is the most spectacular firework display in the world

It takes place in Paterna (Valencia) and this year a record number of fireworks have been used, 65,000 up on last year by 8,000.

The fireworks explode at a rhythm of 2,000 a minute and only the brave protect themselves and take part.

The noise started at 1.30 am this morning and some of those who took part said why they did so.
‘It put’s the hairs on your back on end, I don’t know what it signifies, but is something out of the ordinary’
‘It has no explanation, you have to live it’.

Remarkably nobody gets injured; although one this morning suffered a firework in his eye.
