Basque Country

Basque Country independents created a human chain 123km long to promote their demands.

The chain went from Durango, in Vizcaya to Pamplona.

The Basque Nationalist Party PNV, the socialist Zabalata, the left wing nationalist and separatist EH Bildu, and Podemos all assisted.

The organisers say 150,000 people were in the chain in a festive and vindictive way. It was organised by the platform ‘Gure Esku Dago’ –(It’s in our hand) who after the event described it as ‘successful for the citizens’.

From early hours on Sunday about 1,000 coaches were arriving from many points of the Basque Country and Navarra, distributing the participants along the way.

The organisers read a statement at the end of the day which said
‘The Basque people have reached the moment to write the words, future, together, decide. We must continue to advance to convert the illusion created in this activity into decisions’.
