The discovery was made yesterday when the lorry was stationary in the village of Hernani. Sources at the Basque Health Service (Osalidetza in Basque) informed the media that the three had also suffered a lack of oxygen but are in good health and would remain under observation for a few more hours.
The lorry had stopped at a service station on the AP8 motorway at Km 22 direction Madrid, and it was another driver who had parked nearby who heard noise coming from the refrigerated trailer, and he alerted both the driver and the Basque Ertzaintza Police. The Police reported later that the lorry had departed from Poland and the temperature the three had suffered was ten degrees centigrade.
