The crowning ceremony of Don Quixote
Approximately 100 notable authors coming from 54 countries voted the book to be the most meaningful of all time. This poll was conducted in Oslo and was organized by editors from the Norwegian Book Clubs. Famous writers like Wole Soyinka, Seamus Heaney, Nadine Gordimer, Doris Lessing, and Carlos Fuentes voted in favor of the book. This exemplary piece of art by Miguel de Cervantes gained more than half of the votes, beating the literary works of Shakespeare, Homer, and Tolstoy.

Reality is woven into the fictional tale
You might not know much about Spanish culture, but rest assured that once you start reading the book, you will not want to stop. The book can be regarded as the most classic of all the recent novels. Don Quixote is also noted as one of the greatest works of literature, as the book is a lively and earthly story of real people. That is, Cervantes shows the readers a realistic world and the people associated with it as they truly are.

The synopsis of Don Quixote
In the prologue, Cervantes says that with the help of chivalric romances, he wants to destroy—through ridicule—the influential people of his time. Don Quixote himself has ironically turned mad from reading such stories, and sets out to imitate the daring feats of the chivalric knights. The chapters of the book are entertaining as they showcase the misadventures of Don Quixote. Perhaps these are the bits that have entered popular culture. There is also a lot of poetry recited by lovesick shepherds and goatherds.

Cervantes wrote the second part of the book ten years later. As you read on, you will find out that the main character and his loyal servant are becoming much more interesting. Don Quixote, the main character, and Sancho, the servant, are now depicted as figures to make fun of, and not as endearing people.

The book has a lot to offer, as it contains more than a thousand pages encompassing a four-hundred-year-old satire. Well, in whichever form it is portrayed, the book is worth reading for any serious student, or for anyone who likes reading in general.

Conclusion
Right now, you are guaranteed to find many marvelous quotes online originating from Don Quixote. They may say something about reaching the supposedly unreachable stars, or the sanity of viewing the world as it actually is. If you are wondering where these inspirational quotes came from, then here’s your answer: They originated from plays and songs based on the novel Don Quixote.
