The resident of A Guarda (Pontevedra) was driving on Saturday morning on the road which runs between the localities of Balona and A Guarda (PO-552) and the collision happened around 1120 and the victim has been named as 50 year old electrician José Antonio Casas Pérez, resident of Nigrán.
Three cyclists remain in a serious condition and a fourth is less injured. During the collision a number plate from the SUV fell off as the driver, now identified, continued to the local beach and went into a restaurant asking for an ambulance to be sent because he had run down ‘ten cyclists’.
The man was taken by the Local Police from A Guarda to their police station and they reported the driver was very nervous, tested negative for drink and drugs and had a valid driving licence.
He now faces two charges, of negligent homicide and failing to help after the accident. The Guardia Civil released him with charges outstanding and he will be called to attend instruction court 2 in Tui.
The vehicle, a black Honda SUV, had the front completely bashed in and inside was full of pieces of broken window. Three ambulances and one helicopter from the GES from A Guarda and the Guardia Civil went to the scene.

Meanwhile 52 year old Dutch cyclist died yesterday during a mountain bike race in Alhaurín el Grande (Málaga), after suffering a heart attack on one of the climbs, and the emergency services were unable to revive him.
