A young British married couple have been the first to swim across the Strait of Gibraltar this year


The ‘Association for Swimming Across the Strait of Gibraltar’, which official checks the achievement, happened yesterday

The happy couple are 33 year old Matthew William Brokenshire and 28 year old Chloe Jessica Brokenshire, and they departed from the Palomas Island in Tarifa (Cádiz) at 11:44am with a slight westerly wind at the start, which increased when half way and complicated their final arrival.

The swimmers completed the task after 3 hours and 47 minutes swimming at 15:32 after reaching the point Alamsa, on the northern African coast after swimming 16 kilometres.
