The Guardia Civil has detained, after discovering a secret location in Beneficio de Cáñar, a 23-year-old youngster under a search and extradite order from the French police for the supposed assassination of a person in France.
At the moment of his arrest, the youngster was in possession of the victim’s mobile phone, according Tuesday by the Guardia Civil, which during the same operation placed 24 people at judicial disposition for crimes against public health and drug cultivation, after discovering 2,320 marijuana plants scattered in small plantations in the surroundings of the Sierra Nevada Nature Park.
The operation started from an attempted sexual aggression against a tourist by a group of people from the commune and the serious injuries committed by two people of the community against a third.
The agents identified the residents of the commune, derived from the detention of a man who was whereabouts unknown by the French authorities for the assassination by strangling.
According to the Guardia Civil, to hide the cannabis plants, once grouped in large plantations, they split them up into small amounts to hide among other cultivations and thick thicket and tall trees in an attempt of secrecy.
The Guardia Civil has warned about the environmental damage these sorts of communes cause on the Sierra Nevada Nature Park by disturbing the water courses from drinking water for watering, the illegal opening of wells, and blocking hunting plants by concreting around the plantations, among other questions.
The agents collected 103 environmental infractions for illegal camping, domestic animals, rubbish and waste, forest fires, stealing water from public supplies for watering, illegal rotating of crops of wild cannabis, parking in rivers and the illegal captures of water.
They discovered more than 40 illegal water captures
