1499 - A fleet of four boats leaves from Puerto de Santa María in Cádiz, commanded by Américo Vespucio and Juan de la Cosa, and makes it way to the coasts of Surinam, near Brazil
1565 – The Royal Audiencia of Concepción is created by a decree of Philip II of Spain.
1643 - The French, commanded by the future Prince Condé, defeated the Spaniards, Francisco de Melo at the front, in the Battle of Rocroi (Ardennes, France), during the open struggle between France and Spain for hegemony in Europe.
1680 - In Spain the compilation of the Laws of the Indies, consisting of nine books and more than six thousand laws is published.
1845 - The infant Carlos Maria Isidro de Borbón abdicated in his son Carlos Luis intended rights to the Crown of Spain.
1903 - King Alfonso XIII makes the opening of the Parliament with a speech.
1963 - Madrid,the Ciudad Deportiva is inaugurated in the Paseo de la Castellana.
2015 - ‘Cuando deje de llover’ (when it stops raining) triumphed in the MAX theatre prizes
