The 51 year old had problems with alcohol abuse and had parked his motor-caravan in ses Variades

His body was removed under judicial order on Friday, found inside his old Hymercamp model, and until the autopsy results are released, an initial inspection shows no signs of physical violence
The front of his vehicle was covered with 38 stickers of camping sites along the Mediterranean coast, from Greece to Gibraltar - despite it’s ruinous state the number plate seemed recent,
‘The number plate is German, and shows the date 5 May 2014’ - so said a tourist compatriot who had parked nearby. He was the only person in this isolated sport of 8.8 hectares, apart from a roadie crew from BBC Radio 1 who were setting up a stage for a live broadcast.
Nearby, towards the Cervantes college, there is an old military structure known as ‘the tank’ and a pair of sheets which supplied the only shadow apart from some shrubbery 20 metres away, and the extreme end of the zone known as parking. Here lives a middle aged Moroccan ‘He of the caravan? I didn’t know he had died’ he said calmly ‘His name was Patrick, he was a drunkard, he greeted me sometimes, but never spoke’
Little more is known about the mysterious Patrick in the Cáritas day charity centre, apart from name and drinking problem and he was very sullen and aloof, ‘The people who live in these isolated caravans are living off the grid’ said one user who had arrived for a meal.
Sofia, a volunteer, remember he had a pet ‘Once, one of the users gave some of his food to the dog, but his owner rushed out and shouted abuse and told him to leave’ ‘We never saw him using our showers or collecting food’ said one onlooker.
Several of the charity workers gathered around the caravan as agents from the Guardia Civil inspected the surroundings and a fully equipped ambulance from IB-Health received a call at 8.50 am. The body was lifted around noon.
Among the twenty caravans and numerous vans all inhabited in ses Variades, and one character Jossie, a Scottish hippy always smartly dressed appeared from behind a curtain of sarongs. He has spent all the summer moving his vehicle from one place to another to avoid fines and had parked near ‘the tank’ ‘I saw Patrick sometimes, but he was obsessed with ‘the dog in his caravan which was always barking’
In the nearby street Vara de Ray, a cleaning operative explained next to the caravan ‘there was always many empty bottles and packets of medicaments, which they mix with alcohol’ but I never spoke with Patrick.
