According to the Madrid Health Service, the man died in the Gregorio Marañón hospital after being attended to initially in the Infanta Leonor hospital. The patient had detected a garrapata after taking a walk in the countryside in the Castilla-León region.

The second patient is a nurse in the ICU unit in the same Infanta Leonor hospital, who recently attended to the man, and who is currently in the ICU in this centre. Showing similar symptoms to the first patient, the protocols for prevention and isolation have been followed.

Also, samples from both patients have been sent to the National Centre for Microbiology, and we are waiting for the results to determine the pathology. Possible we will hear this afternoon.
In parallel as a preventative measure, they are compiling a list of the people who have been in contact with the patients so they can be monitored.

Health specialist note the hemorrhagic fever is a process which starts with a high fever and hemorrhagic disorders, and can be transmitted by a bite of the garrapata and exceptionally between humans via fluids.
