The leader of the gang confessed to the facts during the primary section of the case in September, when he admitted to smuggling 75 kilos of hashish via sea on three trips between November 2011 and June 2012. The chamber imposed the longest terms of four years and three months in prison with a fine of 400,000 €

The other seven accused reached a plea bargain with the Prosecutor, for three years in prison. Only two suspects of the criminal organisation based in Palma failed to agree on said plea bargain. All have been sentenced for the crimes against public health via drug trafficking and for three years and 18 months respectively.

The Palma Audience also decreed the destruction of the seized hashish, and the confiscation of the money and assets of the condemned, smartphones, cars, a motorbike and also the high speed launch used by the gang to transport bales of hashish from Ceuta to Málaga.

Declared proven, the main players were dedicated to bring to the mainland elevated quantities of wild cannabis and hashish resin from Ceuta, drugs with final destinations of Holland and Germany, and also Mallorca.

Those now being held in custody used a sophisticated communication system to make their conversations encrypted in an attempt to foil the State security forces. Using dozens of disposable phones again to avoid being tracked down. These phones were purchased a third party always a foreigner, and were rarely used, only for SMS text messages, also they used the main social networks of Facebook and Messenger again to confuse the Police.

Their leader, oversaw the transporting of the drugs, had rented a home in Manilva (Málaga) and used the garage to hoard the drugs ahead of later distribution. On the ferry between Ceuta and Algeciras they had hidden the drugs in the vehicles as an alternative route, and then across Europe to lower drug dealers or directly among users.

On 27 November 2011 they managed to smuggle into Palma 20 kilos of hashish hidden inside a Mercedes which travelled from Andalucía to Valencia.

Earlier, on 6 November 2011, the same car was loaded with ten kilos of hashish to cover the same route. The leader and supervisor spent many visits to Palma and on 18 June 2012, the leader was arrested with his companion based in Palma port. The Guardia Civil then impounded 38 kilos of hashish inside the boot of a van – destined to users in Palma and Calvià.
