Es Castell on Menorca is going to re-enact the end of British domination

This Monday, Spain’s National Fiesta and the Fiesta of the Virgin Pilar, the town of Es Castell will commemorate for the last time this tourist season the hoisting of the Soria Regiment flag after the Amiens Treaty.

Oct 9, 2015 - 5:51 AM
The act will be celebrated at noon in the Esplanade Square and in pure military style reflecting the time, two cannon shots will be fired, complying with the orders of Carlos III who controlled all the ships which passed by the Sant Felipe Castle and the cannons were fired as a form of greeting and in a gesture of obedience to the King.

It’s expected eight musicians, two horsemen, two cannons, four riflemen, eight standard bearers, and gunners will be part of the re-enactment.

Another event on Monday based at tourists on the island is the last day of the XVIII edition of the Tapas Route, an initiative where 17 bars offer a tapa beer wine or water for two euro.
