The couple was living in Melilla and the National Police considered the Spanish woman and Moroccan man, who were arrested in Turkey last Friday are ‘plainly integrated’ in the terrorist organisation.

The Police suspect both crossed the Turkish frontier shortly after arriving in the country to arrive in a Syrian area under the control of ISIL. It’s unknown what their duties were between that time and when they returned to Turkey.

The Moroccan was known to have a close relationship with people detained for terrorism, such as Mohamed El Bali and Jamal Alcalá Damir, but also he is known to have tried on two previous occasions to entre Syria last year; the first in July and the second in September.
Before he left last October he left a will which shared his assets he owned both in Melilla and Morocco, the police believe because he was not expecting to return from combat.

The couple is also known to have tried to recruit others to join their cause, and had done so against both Spaniards and foreigners.
