Brexit dominates the Spanish front pages’ today

El País – ‘London accepts the demands of Brussels to leave the EU’ – The United Kingdom will pay 45 billion € to leave the European Union. Prime minister May escaped a political crisis over the blockage of the negotiations. Spain will try to maintain or improve bilateral relations in the new phase.

ABC – ‘Europe saves May with a pact to unlock Brexit’ –There will be no ‘hard frontier’ with Ireland, the rights of the communities’ resident in the UK will be protected and the divorce bill will cost the British public more than 40 billion €.

El Mundo – ‘Europe has forced London to accept a ‘soft Brexit’ – Theresa May ignored her own red lines to close the divorce accord between Great Britain and Brussels – she gains oxygen after months of political agony.

La Razón – ‘Agreement for a soft Brexit’ – Great Britain has accepted to pay as much as 45 billion € for the divorce proceedings. Ulster, the British province will maintain a ‘legal alinement’ to avoid a hard frontier. Gibraltar – Brussels has rejected for now to concede any special status for the Rock.

La Vanguardia – ‘London packed an expensive divorce with the EU’ – May gave way to now debate trade and security – the British assumed the debt of 45 billion €.
NATIONAL

El Mundo – ‘Interior ministry has impeded companies from selling ammunition to the Mossos’ – Veto only affects Cataluña and continues until the end of the year. One of the suppliers had to turn back at the French frontier with 1.5 million bullets.

El País – ‘The nightmare of Marianela in Almonte’ – her husband and daughter assassinated, her lover arrested and released and she has fled the village.


INTERNATIONAL

El País – The unanimous condemnation of all the Arab countries over Trump’s decision to name Jerusalem as capital of Israel, seemed weaker yesterday with protestors of the streets of the Middle East – one death in Gaza and nearly 100 injured

El Mundo – ‘The intifada by Trump has created tensions’ – cholera invaded the Palestine territories, over the change of status for Jerusalem announced by the USA, leaving two dead and 200 wounded.

La Razón – ‘Anger against Trump’ – protests across Gaza added by opposition from all Arab countries caused at least two dead and hundreds injured. The call from the Palestine National Authority to demonstrate peacefully to avoid greater damage, but the situation in the Middle East remains inflammable with Israeli troops on alert.
