Three of the Top Ten Restaurants in the world, according to the Restaurant magazine are in Spain.

El Celler de Can Roca, a temple to Girona cuisine, tops the list as the best restaurant of the world.

It’s run by the brothers Josep, Joan, and Jordi Roca, and also has three Michelin stars.

Last year it came second in the list and 2011 it was fourth behind the Fat Duck.

El Celler de Can Roca has reached number one, two years after Ferran Adrià decided to close El Bulli. Both establishments have shown the world the best of Catalan and Spanish cuisine.

The elder brother at El Celler de Can Rosa, Joan, said. ‘I feel responsibility. It’s magnificent, magnificent. I think about my brothers, my family, my team. It’s a reward we all share, and it gives us all confidence. It’s the merit ‘technoemotional cuisine.’

The brothers have been in the restaurant business for 25 years and there is a book called El Somni, (The Dream) which was presented in London.

Two more of the Top Ten Restaurants in the world can also be found in Spain, both of them in Euskadi.

Mugaritz and Arzak, have come in forth and eighth. The news came hours before the gala last night in London, and no other region as small as Euskadi could be so proud, said one of the chefs.

The list is sponsored by Nestlé and some restaurateurs, such as Martín Berastegui, are critical on how the list is drawn up. Needless to say the critics are left off the list or occupy the lower places.

Top British restaurant this year is Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, which comes in at number 7.
