Morón would then be the home for the United States Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force for Crisis Response.
Defence Minister, Pedro Morenés, aware of the local impact of the arrival of some 850 marines, promised the deputies on both sides of the chamber that he would defend local employment.
Meanwhile the National Security Council will today study the drawing up of plan against radical Islamists. The document under discussion is titled ‘National Strategic Plan for the Fight against Violent Radicalisation, drawn up by the Interior Ministry which wants to stop the recruitment of Muslims for terrorist groups, such as Al Qaeda and the self-named Islamic State, by extremist leaders, and above all the Internet.
Government sources say the integral plan, will not only provide punctual measures, such as browsing Jihadist websites, or the participation in conflicts abroad, but also preventative measures such as the interruption of terrorist funding, integration into the Muslim communities and taking on an ideological battle to avoid this intolerant version of Islam.
The Interior Ministry has been working on this plan for two years, which was expected to be approved last year, but the Paris attacks led to a pause. The ministry directed by Jorge Fernández Díaz is following the example which was approved during the time of the Zapatero Government ‘Strategy against International Terrorism and Radicalism’, although that legislation has been brought up to date to include, for example returning combatants.
