A Briton has died taken out sea by a gigantic wave in the Santiago Port


The 30 year old man, died yesterday afternoon when he drowned when dragged out into the sea from the coastline of Santiago Port, in Santiago del Teide.

The tragic event occurred at 18:30pm in the area of Las Bajas, close to the Barceló Santiago hotel. The man was walking near the entry of a cave known as El Tancón when he was hit by the wave.

A helicopter from the GES Lifeguards and Emergencies Group, and the rescuers were able to winch him into the copter. He had previously had a cardiac arrest and attempts were made to reanimate him during the flight to a football field in the area.

However, all their efforts were without luck, and the young Briton died.
