In the framework of the operation ‘ESCOTA’ coordinated by EUROPOL, agents of the Guardia Civil, Border Guard and Central Investigation Bureau in Poland, the Italian Guardia di FInanza, the National Crime Agency and the Customs Police in Gibraltar, have dismantled a criminal organisation integrated by Polish citizens dedicated to the international trafficking of narcotic substances from Morocco to the EU, mainly to Poland, Britain, Sweden, Germany and Ukraine.
In this dismantled group, each person had a completely different duty than any other, having established their operations base in Marina del Este (Almuñécar) from where one of the members of the criminal gang arranged the logistics, maintained relationships with influential people in the area who would facilitate the measures which a criminal organisation needs.
The chief of Polish nationality lived between Poland and Germany and when the moment was approaching of committing the crime, and given the fact that he was especially detailed in all the criminal activities, rented a luxury villa on the Málaga coastline which was used to control all the movements which were realised in preparing the illicit compounds.
For his own safety in Spain, he lived at 150km from the operations base in Granada, which he visited nearly everyday to realise meticulous control over his subordinates.
To improve on this, he ordered two of the criminals who lived in the house used in one of their operations three months before to transport the narcotics from Morocco to the European continent.
After an exhaustive investigation with thanks to EUROPOL, and the distinct European police forces which participated in the investigation, led them to board a ship in Italian territorial waters when on its way to Italy, and was carrying more than 3,300 kilos of hashish and then detentions and searches in a coordinated way between Poland and Spain.
The chief of the criminal organisation was a person under investigation internationally, and considered to be highly dangerous having committed assassinations and extortions and with a wide criminal record.
He led one of the four most important and bloody organisations in Poland, where he is attributed to have committed numerous assassinations on the settling of scores using hit men from the same organisation, which was forever expanding across Western Europe and the Mediterranean, especially in Spain, Italy, Germany and France.
His criminal connections stretched to other continents, such as Africa and Latin America, where other members of the organisation controlled diverse criminal activities.
During the operation seven searches were carried out on boats and homes in several countries, where the following assets were impounded:
3,300 kilos of hashish
A yacht
Two vehicles
One motorbike
Two satellite phones
Latest generation electronic material
20,000 €
Documents of interest,
The detained had a wide criminal history and police records in diverse countries in the European Union.
The phase of the operation carried out in Spain was realised by agents from the Guardia Civil barracks in Granada and Málaga, in collaboration with the Central Operations Unit of the Guardia Civil.
