Their 41 year old son survived the tragedy
A married couple in their eighties have died from carbon monoxide poisoning after a fire at their home in the town of
Toro, in Zamora, on Monday.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of a two-floor dwelling on Calle Bocarón early on Monday, when the two victims and their son were all sleeping on the upper floor. It’s believed a heater had been left alight in the lounge on the lower level.
The son, named as 41 year old
J.L.M.G., managed to escape but is said to have been affected by carbon monoxide and burns when he went back inside to rescue his parents. A fireman and a local police officer were also affected.
Both victims died shortly after being rescued from the scene.
