The group is reported to be responsible for the pateras which have reached the Canary Islands this year
The Canary Islands newspaper, ‘Canarias 7,’ reported on Tuesday that the network responsible for the immigrant pateras which have reached the islands since January this year has been broken up by police in Morocco.

The paper reports that 14 arrests were made after a shootout in Dajla, in the south of Western Sahara. They say the leader managed to escape by sea towards Mauritania.

Authorities are said to have moved in to the area following a three month investigation which identified the organisation concerned and the area from which it operated.
