An Irishman on holiday on the Costa del Sol proposed to his girlfriend beside the Terry Pratchett novels in Bookworld España, Fuengirola
An Irishman on holiday on the Costa del Sol chose what must be one of the most unexpected venues to make his proposal to his girlfriend, deciding that a bookshop was probably the safest place to pop the question if anything was going to be thrown.
Carl Doran, who was in Fuengirola with his girlfriend Barbara to visit his older brother Chris, decided to make the proposal in Bookworld España, where his brother is a regular customer.
Staff at the bookshop, forewarned by Chris just moments before, were standing by with hankies as Carl went down on one knee in the Fiction Section, ring at the ready, beside the Terry Pratchett fantasy novels.
Fortunately, all went according to plan and all the books remained in their places on the shelves– apart from the two Pratchett novels and other books the happy couple bought to mark the occasion.
They then headed off with brother Chris for some champagne to celebrate the event.
