Pacts indicate that the chamber will be presided over by a Socialist
The Socialists are to preside over the Regional Parliament in Navarra, and do so thanks to the support of the UPN, PP.
It comes after the decision of the PSOE-PSN to present separate candidates from the more radical nationalists Na-Bai.
A possible deal between Na-Bia and the Socialists had upset some in the Government but now separate candidates will be presented for President and with the UPN support the Socialist candidate is ensured victory.
Voting for the posts in the regional parliament takes place later today.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, is to meet the Lehendakari, Juan José Ibarretxe, in the Moncloa Palace today.
The two will discuss how to strengthen unity against the Basque terrorists ETA.
