It's the first time the region has put together a side in 69 yearsIt’s a case of politics in Sport with a team from
Euskadi, the Basque Country, currently on tour in Latin America.
The side, put together by
Mikel Etxarru and
José Ángel Inbar, beat a Venezuelan side 3-4, with
Etxebarria scoring twice.
It’s the first time that a Basque football side has played outside Spain for 69 years, and before the game the players held up a large banner which read ‘We are a nation’.
