52 paintings from some of the European masters are being shown in the Chinese capital
What is being described as the essence of the Prado Museum from Madrid has travelled to China.
52 works from Italian, French, Dutch and Spanish painters are shown in the exhibition ‘The Essence of the Prado’ which has been opened in Beijing by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia who have been on a six day visit to the country.
The works stay in the Chinese capital until August 24 and then move to Shanghai.
The Prado Director, Miguel Zugaza, said the exhibition is an art class for a public which does not know western art or its masterpieces.
