The Swiss team keeps the cup after beating the Kiwis 5-2 in the final of the competition

The Swiss team Alinghi has won and retained the America’s Cup with a 5-2 final result in Valencia against Emirates Team New Zealand.

The fifth victory, with a margin of just two seconds, in the seventh regatta, and the success of the SUI-100 vessel is little surprise following the wins from the smaller SUI-91 over the past four years.

The victory of the team led by Ernesto Bertarelli has strengthened the options for Valencia to host the competition again in two year’s time.
