A second man is in hospital with serious burns after a fire on his yacht in Torrevieja
Police in Benidorm are investigating the death of a British holidaymaker who appears to have died from injuries he may have received in a street fight this weekend. The Alicante newspaper, Información, names him as Nicky Pearson from Scotland, and says he was involved in two disturbances in the Rincón de Loix area of the town.
They say local police officers were called out to the first incident, and took him to the Levante Hospital for treatment, where he remained for a short time. The officers were asked to intervene to calm him down at one point.
Police were called out again to a second incident near the Hotel Levante at 7am on Saturday, where they found Mr Pearson with a large gash in his head. He was admitted to the district hospital in Villajoyosa, but died on Sunday.
Another British tourist is in hospital with burns to 40% of his body, after a fire broke out on his yacht while it was moored at Torrevieja on Tuesday.
Named as 58 year old W.O.F. by La Verdad newspaper, it appears he accidentally started the fire himself with a spark from an electric drill. He jumped overboard to escape the flames and was rescued by staff from the marina.
