They are angry at a veto from Madrid stopping the party sharing power in the Navarra region
The entire executive of the Young Socialists in Navarra has resigned.

It comes after the party’s National Executive in Madrid vetoed the Navarra Socialists wish to form a pact to govern the region with the Na Bai nationalists and I.U. left wingers.

The main party in Navarra has meanwhile approved a text which said they accepted the imposition from Madrid, while making it clear that they did not agree with it.

The PSOE leaders in Madrid are concerned that any support for the Nationalists in Navarra would lead the party to lose votes across the rest of the country, and the decision of the Young Socialists in Navarra further complicates the problem.

They are demanding a new managing committee for the party in the region.

Meanwhile the leader of the UPN – or PP in the region, Miguel Sanz, who is expected to be invested as President of the Navarra government on Saturday, has called for loyalty from the Socialists in the region. He said that if it proved impossible for him to govern in minority, then he will call fresh elections.

The investiture debate is now underway in the Navarra parliament, with the vote to take place after each of the political groups have had their turn in responding to Sanz's programme for government presented yesterday in the first day of the debate.

Miguel Sanz will be the last to take the floor, followed by the secret ballot at the end of the session.
