Six people were killed in the accident on the A7 motorway under constructon in November 2005
A judge investigating the collapse of a viaduct under construction on the A7 motorway in Almuñecar, Granada in November 2005, has charged both the Ministry for Development and the constructors, in connection with the six resulting deaths.
The main contractor and the subcontractors used are charged with not giving their workers ‘all the means necessary to carry out their jobs in adequate safety’.
The resolution comes from the First Instance and Instruction Judge 2 in Almuñecar. The judge considers in his statement that the accident could have been far worse.
The judge is to call the Chief of Road Demarcation of the State in Eastern Andalucía to give evidence, together with the Project Engineering Director, both of whom come under the auspices of the Ministry for Development.
In the accident six Portuguese men and another from Galicia lost their lives when a 68 metre high metal platform collapsed, it’s thought from metal fatigue.
