The fires in Istán and Casares were both started through negligence

Police have made two arrests in connection with two forest fires in Málaga province which were both started through negligence.

A fire which broke out in Istán yesterday was brought under control after four hours after destroying an estimated 20 hectares. The person believed to be responsible for starting the blaze was, according to a report in Diario Sur this morning, using an electric saw without proper fire prevention precautions.

Another arrest was made yesterday in connection with a fire which destroyed 2.5 hectares in the Baños de la Hedionda area of Casares on 7th August. It is the second arrest in the case.

And in Benaoján, the authorities are still investigating the cause of a blaze which destroyed two hectares in the Cueva del Gato area on Tuesday.
