• Family of the man allegedly shot by a local policeman in Benidorm to start legal action - Aug 22, 2007 - 9:12 AM
The policeman stabbed himself to make it look like self-defence after he had shot dead an intruder in his home
The Local Policeman from Benidorm who shot dead a drunk 32 year old man who climbed onto the balcony of his home, is now being held on remand in the Fontcalent prison in Alicante.
The instruction judge considers that the stab wound on the local policeman was self imposed and had been done to try and indicate that some type of struggle had taken place with a thief, and indeed it is now understood that the policeman has confessed to stabbing himself in an attempt to claim self defence for the shooting of the intruder.
Friends of the dead man say he was just drunk and had climbed across to the balcony wearing just his swimming trunks despite their attempts to call him down.
Investigators were alerted to the inconsistencies in the local policeman’s story, given a time delay between the event and time he reported the crime.
The funeral for David Carvajal took place in Villaoyosa on Wednesday, after the family rejected financial help offered by Benidorm City Hall.
